Dear Mr Shakespeare
RE:
Application for documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth)
Your request seeking access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982
(“FOI Act”) was received on 7 February 2017.
A decision in relation to your request has been made, and is advised below.
Request
You have requested
"...the latest document which details the salary ranges of all Australia Post
employees, and the number of employees at each salary range..."
Decision
I am satisfied after making all due and proper enquiries, that no single document
identifying salary ranges for Australia Post employees, and the number of Australia
Post employees within each salary range exists, and accordingly this request is denied
under section 24A (1) (b) (ii) of the Act, on the grounds that the document as sought
does not exist.
Rights of Review
If you are unhappy with the decision advised in this letter you have the right to seek
either;
An internal review by writing within 30 days of receiving this letter to Australia Post, FOI
Review Officer, Legal Services Group, GPO Box 1777, Melbourne VIC 3001,
xxx@xxxxxxx.xxx.xx; or
A review of this decision by writing within 60 days of receiving this letter to the
Information Commissioner, GPO Box 2999, Canberra ACT 2601, Fax: 02 9284 9666,
xxxxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx.xx.
However my enquiries have elicited certain documents which address aspects of your
request which I propose to release to you “administratively”; that is outside the FOI Act.
The significance of an administrative disclosure is that the review rights of the FOI Act
do not apply.
1. I have attached a document which describes

(a) the 134 pay scale classifications used for employees of Australia Post , and
(b) the numbers of Australia Post employees who fit under each of those
classifications at a point in time on March 1st 2017.
2. Where a pay classification identified in the attached document is the same as a
position classification identified in the Australia Post Enterprise Agreement
(“EA”), the salary level or range for staff at that classification can be identified
by reference to the EA.
The EA is a public document and can be obtained from this link
http://awardviewer.fwo.gov.au/award/show/MA000137
Not all pay classifications in the attached document are matched in the EA.
Where they are not, no additional salary level or range information can be
supplied.
3. I also refer you to the Australia Post 2016 remuneration report which is
accessible at
