Dear ZF,
I refer to my previous correspondence outlined below.
As previously stated, your request, as it stands, does not provide such information as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer to identify the document(s) requested, as is required by section 15(2)(b) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).
A failure to comply with this requirement is classified as a ‘practical refusal reason’ for which a ‘request consultation process’ under the FOI Act is required.
A response by 17 September 2019 would be appreciated, however if no response is received by that date the formal consultation process will commence.
Your sincerely

Subject: FW: Freedom of Information Request - 201900044
Dear ZF,
I am writing regarding your attached Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the University. This request appears to be for information rather than for access to documents of the University. The FOI Act provides for access to documents in the possession of an agency.
Unfortunately, your request, as it stands, does not provide such information as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer to identify the document(s) requested, as is required by section 15(2)(b) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).
A failure to comply with this requirement is classified as a ‘practical refusal reason’ for which a ‘request consultation process’ under the FOI Act is required.
However, in an effort to informally resolve this failure, I request that you refine the scope of your request and provide sufficient information for a search to be conducted to locate documents you are requesting access to. Can you please clarify the following aspects:
· request the current internal process of handling students' appeals received on assoc.dean.edu.cecs at anu.edu.au, in particular who have the access to this email account, who are supposed to monitor the email account daily and how they are supposed to act after receiving emails.
o Please clarify what documents you are seeking that may contain this information.
· As far as I know the Associate Dean (Education) does not monitor the email account daily, but rather there is a secretary-like person who handles the emails and possibly actually directs it to ADE. I would like to know who this person is and the guidelines/processes according to which he/she should work. In case the name of the person cannot be disclosed directly, I would like the job title to be disclosed.
o Please provide sufficient information to enable us to identify the documents you seek eg correspondence, procedures, etc.
o Are you seeking documents in a specific date range? If so, please specify the scope and date range of documents you are seeking access to.
I can advise you that information about student appeals is published on the ANU website on the Assessments and exams page at https://www.anu.edu.au/students/program-administration/assessments-exams and ANU policies, procedures and guidelines are published in the ANU Policy Library at https://policies.anu.edu.au/ppl/index.htm. This information may be of assistance to you.
Your sincerely
