Hermit Park Drain Construction 1970's
Dear Townsville City Council,
We are seeking information regarding the construction of the current Hermit Park Drain.
Ideally:
- When was it constructed?
- Purpose of it's construction
- What existed prior to the construction of the Hermit Park Drain?
- What function does the Hermit Park Drain perform?
- Why was the Hermit Park Drain constructed in its present location?
We are seeking to support home and business owners in the proximity of the Hermit Park Drain in determining insurance protections they need to have in place. We are also wanting this information to support some business owners who have been denied cover from the February Monsoon event.
Insurance companies believe the Hermit Park Drain is a modified or altered 'Natural' Watercourse. Any information that may prove otherwise would be useful.

Dear Technical Enquiries,
The Hermit Park Drain is the concrete drain or channel with rectangular configuration on the southern side of Charters Towers Road. The Hermit Park Drain upstream crosses under Roberts Street.
