STRATEGIC AND INFLUENTIAL
ROLE
The Department is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the position of
Deputy Secretary, Health Systems Policy and Primary Care Group. This is an
SIGNIFICANT SALARY PACKAGE
exciting opportunity to take a lead role in helping deliver better health and
well-being outcomes for all Australians. This role is responsible for managing

key relationships with the states and territories through the National Health
Reform Agreement and managing health reform programs in Primary Care,
Mental Health and Indigenous Health as well as responsibility for the
ACT 1982 (CTH)
Department’s international engagement though bilateral relationships with
key health ministries in the Asia-Pacific region and international organisations
such as WHO, United Nations and APEC. The group also has responsibility for
strengthening the Department’s evidence based approach to support world
class policy development and enhancing our ability to understand and analyse
the complex data rich system we oversee. In doing so, you wil be required to
advise Ministers and the Secretary of the Departmen , deal extensively with
complex stakeholder groups and interests, and actively engage in shaping the
culture and performance of the Department
.
As
Deputy Secretary and a key member of the Health Executive, you will be an
INFORMATION
experienced policy maker, lead a complex work program, make a substantial
contribution to agency governance and the culture and priorities of the entire
organisation and have a focus on building capability and improving the
efficiency and effectiveness of the Department.
To be a strong contender for this role you will be innovative and flexible with a
strong record of achievement in leading people and managing resources to
accomplish quality results. You will be comfortable in working in a fast-paced
environment and ideally have experience in working on multidimensional and
