Dear Department of Defence,

I request all available correspondence including emails, letters and contracts etc. relating to the participation of the 101 Doll Squadron dance troop (FEMALE COLLABORATING DANCEHALL CREW SYDNEY) in the commissioning ceremony of HMAS Supply (A195). The commissioning of the ship occurred on the 10th April 2021.

I am not requesting the inclusion of any names, numbers, postal addresses, email addresses or contact details of the individuals that make up the 101 Doll Squadron.

I refer to your correspondence dated 11 April 2021, in which you sought
access, under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) to:

 

“…all available correspondence including emails, letters and contracts
etc. relating to the participation of the 101 Doll Squadron dance troop
(FEMALE COLLABORATING DANCEHALL CREW SYDNEY) in the commissioning ceremony
of HMAS Supply (A195). The commissioning of the ship occurred on the 10th
April 2021.

 

I am not requesting the inclusion of any names, numbers, postal addresses,
email addresses or contact details of the individuals that make up the 101
Doll Squadron.”

release of the information. 

 

Subsection 15(6) of the FOI Act provides for an extension of 30 days to
the statutory time limit for processing requests. Therefore, the deadline

1.                             I refer to your email below received on 10
June 2021, in which you requested an internal review under section 54 of
the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), of the decision dated 10
June 2021 by CMDR G Mountney.

  

2.                             The decision you received related to your
request for access, under the FOI Act, to: 

 

 “…all available correspondence including emails, letters and contracts
etc. relating to the participation of the 101 Doll Squadron dance troop
(FEMALE COLLABORATING DANCEHALL CREW SYDNEY) in the commissioning ceremony
of HMAS Supply (A195). The commissioning of the ship occurred on the 10th
April 2021.”

 

3.             The statutory deadline for you to receive a response from
Defence is 10 July 2021, which is 30 days from the date in which your
application for internal review was received.  As the date for your
decision falls on a weekend, you will receive your decision on the next
business day which will be Monday, 12 July 2021.

 

4.             Paragraph 3.141 of the Guidelines issued by the Office of
the Australian Information Commissioner, states 'the processing period
refers to calendar days, not business (working) days. This will include
any public holidays that fall within the processing period.[1][44] If the
last day for notifying a decision falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a public
holiday, the timeframe will expire on the first day following which is
none of those days.'  

 

5.             In order for us to process your review request could you
please clarify which part or parts of the decision dated 10 June 2021 you
consider should be reviewed and why. For example:

 

·         do you contend that further documents should have been located;
or/and

·         the exemptions (please specify which exemption) have been
incorrectly applied and why you believe that the exemption has been
