Freedom of Information Request FOI21/172 – Decision letter
The purpose of this letter is to give you a decision about your request for access to a document under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act) which you submitted to the Attorney-General's Department
(the department).
Your request
On 9 September 2021, you requested access to:
…the following statistics about your website, broken down by financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
1) The total number of all visits to your website.
2) The number of site visits to your:
a) FOI webpage
b) FOI disclosure log webpage
c) Information Publication Scheme (IPS) entry webpage
d) IPS agency plan webpage
e) privacy webpage
On 23 September 2021, the department acknowledged your request.
A decision in relation to your request is due on 10 October 2021.
My decision
I am an officer authorised under section 23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to freedom of
information requests made to the department.
Section 17 of the FOI Act relevantly provides:
(1) Where:
(a) a request…is made in accordance with the requirements of subsection 15(2) to an agency;
(b) it appears from the request that the desire of the applicant is for information that is not
available in discrete form in written documents of the agency; and
(c) the agency could produce a written document containing the information in discrete form by:
i. the use of a computer or other equipment that is ordinarily available to the agency
for retrieving or collating stored information…
the agency shall deal with the request as if it were a request for access to a written document so
produced and containing that information and, for that purpose, this Act applies as if the agency
had such a document in its possession.
In accordance with section 17 of the FOI Act, the department has used its computer systems to produce
one document that contains information in response to your request.

Under section 54 of the
