APSC Gift Register

M Poler made this Freedom of Information request to Australian Public Service Commission

The request was successful.

Dear Australian Public Service Commission,

I refer to the following article, published today by the Sydney Morning Herald and other Fairfax papers titled “Public servants keep perk details secret” and available here:

https://www.smh.com.au/national/public-s...

The article states:

“The Australian Public Services Commission encourages the keeping of registers, but rules and records are managed internally by individual departments and agencies. The commission has declined to be interviewed.

“There is a lack of leadership from the commission,” Professor Mulgan said."

Under the FOI Act I seek access to any gift register held by the APSC. Given the APSC’s role in promoting and upholding high standards of accountability, effectiveness, performance, integrity and conduct in the APS, there’s clearly public interest in whether such a register exists and the contents of such a register.

Yours faithfully,

M Poler

FOI, Australian Public Service Commission
