Darren, the reason that the officer wants you to contact her by something other than Right to Know (like telephone or personal email) is
1. She doesn't want to tell the world on Right to Know about personal information that concerns your 10 year old daughter
2. She knows that you did not make a valid application for information under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld). You can't actually make an application for birth information using the Right to Information Act because there are already other methods (like paying the fee for a birth certificate) that allow you to get the information.
3. She knows that you cannot request an internal review because you never made a valid application
4. She knows that, even if you did make a valid application under the Right to Information Act, there is a part of the Queensland law that is intended to prevent (the wrong) people getting personal information about children. (I'm NOT saying that you are the wrong person!). So the officer would have to be sure that the law allowed her to give out personal information about a child. Remember that anyone could create a Right to Know account with a user name of Darren Marsh.

Please, please, please ... phone Emma Rickuss on 07 3239 0756 (ext 90756) so that she can talk to you about sensible ways to get the information you want.

I will also ask an administrator to hide this request so that the world does not read all about your daughter.
