Consultation letters sent to Murray Belcher and Russell Trott pursuant to s 27A of the FOI Act

The request was partially successful.

Dear Federal Court of Australia,

I refer to a request that I made to the Federal Court on 20 March 2022. The request can be accessed here:

https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/s...

On 25 March 2022, I received an email from Registrar Hammerton Cole. That email can be accessed here:

https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/s...

Attached to that email was a letter from Registrar Claire Hammerton Cole in which she claimed that she was required to consult under section 27A of the FOI Act. The letter may be accessed here:

https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/s...

In Registrar Hammerton Cole's decision letter dated 19 May 2022, the registrar refused to provide access to two documents on the ground that both were exempt pursuant to s 47F of the FOI Act.

Personal information only pertains to natural persons under the Privacy Act 1988. It follows that the persons who were consulted were natural persons.

Under the FOI Act I request access to the following documents:

a) the consultation letter sent to Murray Belcher in relation to document 1 - Selection Report - National Judicial Registrar and District Registrar - QLD; and

b) the consultation letter sent to Russell Trott in relation to document 2 - Selection Report - National Judicial Registrar and District Registrar - WA.

Yours faithfully,

Marcus
