Ben Fairless made this Freedom of Information request to Commonwealth Ombudsman as part of a batch sent to 125 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Commonwealth Ombudsman,

Can I please have a copy of the current FOI Delegations, and any related directions issued in respect of FOI.

I believe this information could be considered "operational information" so I therefore request release under the IPS, or under Administrative Access.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Fairless

Ombudsman North, Commonwealth Ombudsman

Dear Commonwealth Ombudsman,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Commonwealth Ombudsman's handling of my FOI request 'FOI Delegations - 2016'.

1. This was a request for release under the Information Publication Scheme and/or under Administrative access.

2. The information I am requesting is "Operational Information" in line with the Freedom of Information Act 1982, as it is "information held by the agency to assist the agency to perform or exercise the agency's functions or powers in making decisions or recommendations affecting members of the public (or any particular person or entity, or class of persons or entities)." (Section 8A(1), Freedom of Information Act 1982).

3. The decision maker waited 30 days to decline this request. This appears to be an attempt by the decision maker to delay a process for no other purpose.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/f...

Yours faithfully,

Ben Fairless

Dear Ombudsman North,

My request was under the Information Publication Scheme which is underpinned by the FOI Act.

It also contained the words "Freedom of Information Request" in the subject.

I think it quite against the principles of review for you to review your own decision. Surely you could have gone to the basic effort of making it look like a fair review.

Yours sincerely,

Ben Fairless
