Gambling fraud increases
Dear Australian Competition and Consumer Commission,
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information:
1. The number of crime reports made to the ACCC in each of the last five years (2016-2020) relating to betting fraud.
2. The amount of money lost to betting fraud, again broken down by each of the last five years (2016-2020).
3. The most common types of betting fraud over the last five years, if this is possible to be broken down into categories/specific offences.
If any of the above is unavailable or would take the request outside of the cost threshold for an FOI request, please just provide me with the information that is reasonably attainable.

I note your request includes data for 2016 and 2017 and information relating to specific categories of data which can be obtained directly from the ACCC’s Scam Watch team outside the FOI process via [email address].
For data in relation to fraud related crime reports, please contact the Australian Federal Police or your local State/Territory police force.
