The request was partially successful.

Dear High Court of Australia,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act)

I Am Requesting Confirmation/Information Of The High Courts Jurisdiction/Position In The Commonwealth Of Australia.

My recent search on the ABR website and ASIC website has left me wondering if the HCA is still the highest jurisdiction/law of this land with it's separation or power in tact.

The HCA's ASIC information suggests that ASIC are the regulators for the HCA, since the HCA is a registered corporation and has an ACN.

But as far as I can see the Federal Court of Australia has an ABN but does not have an ACN and is not regulated by ASIC.

Could you please clarify this.

Yours faithfully,

steven

Enquiries, High Court of Australia

Dear Sir,

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) applies to requests for access to documents. In relation to the High Court of Australia, the Act applies only to documents of an administrative nature.

Your request for "confirmation/information" of the Court's jurisdiction/position in the Commonwealth is not request for a document, but rather for information.

However, as a matter of information, I can confirm that the High Court is the final court of appeal for Australia.

Yours sincerely

Ben Wickham
