Information about vaccines/tests proposed to be supplied to Australian Government

The request was successful.

Dear Department of Health,

I refer to the following information, as outlined in these two articles.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/a...

My understanding is that the facts of the matter are this.

Minister Stuart Robert was a business partner with now-convicted rapist, Neran de Silva in a company called Cryo Australia.

De Silva then apparently entered into a contract with the Australian Government to supply test kits to Australia with his new company, ProMedical.

Shortly thereafter, the TGA revoked Promedical’s approval to supply Covid-19 test kits, at the company’s own request. The US Food and Drug Administration also removed Promedical’s name from its list of test providers.

Despite no longer having TGA approval to supply test kits in Australia, Promedical continued to market test kits in Australia and overseas, including publishing claims it has “Australia’s first approved and certified rapid test kit”.

They were fined for doing so.

I am seeking - any correspondence, diary notes, meeting notes, emails, file notes or memos between the Department of Health and Pro Medical/Neran de Silva, as well as Minister Stuart Robert involving the supply of test kits to the Australian Government.

Many thanks for your help.

Yours faithfully,

Karen Reynolds

Dear Ms Reynolds,

I refer to your FOI request (FOI 4151 refers).

Before the department can commence processing your request, we need
further clarification on the scope of your request.

Clarification of scope

In addition to whether you are seeking information specifically about
“COVID-19” test kits (as set out in the email below), the department needs
clarification on the term “supply”.

In particular, are you seeking access to documents regarding the TGA
approval process of (COVID-19) test kits, or is your request for documents
regarding the procurement or purchase  of the test kits by the department
for supply to Australian citizens after the TGA approval process had been
completed?

If you are seeking documents regarding the approval process of test kits,
please submit a separate FOI request to the Therapeutic Goods
Administration (TGA): [1][email address].

Once you have confirmed the scope of your request (type of test kits), the
department can commence processing it.

To allow the department to commence processing your request, please
respond to our queries at your earliest convenience and no later than
close of business on Friday 6 January 2023.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to discuss further.

Kind regards,

Daniel
