Dear FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

Thank you for your acknowledgement of this request. Will this request be handled concurrently as my request to the Minister which was transferred to the Department (LEX 29018) given they ask for the same information?

Yours sincerely,

UD

FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

Dear UD,

The department is currently handling your two requests concurrently.

As your requests are framed in similar terms, and are currently both being processed by the department, it is open to you to consider withdrawing one of the requests on foot. If we do not hear from you by COB 28 April 2017, we will continue to process your separate requests and you will receive separate decisions for them.

Regards

Dear FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

If it would remove the practical refusal reason I would accept narrowing my request to:
* E-Mail Correspondence, specifically excluding any attachments actually containing the information to be released, and
* Ministerial briefs

I also do not want any documents created after March 8

Yours sincerely,

UD

Dear FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

Having read commentary on other similar requests it appears the Department probably won't release the information after payment so I withdraw my request.

Yours sincerely,

UD

It's a shame you've withdrawn your request. You could have asked that the charges be waived due to the release of the information being in the public interest.

And if they said no, then you could ask the Information Commissioner to review the decision.

It's time consuming, yes, but the process will put pressure on DHS to be more transparent.

If we give up, they win.

Crikey are already doing that for the Andie Fox info: https://www.crikey.com.au/2017/05/29/tud... - and they have more resources than I

Fair enough. It does take up an amazing amount of time.

It's an order of magnitude easier with RightToKnow. I've done one manually and it's super hard. Kudos to the folk running this site.
