Dear Mr Smith,

I write to advise that your request under the Freedom of Information Act
1982 (Cth) made on 18 April 2016 has been received by the Australian
Communications and Media Authority.

In your request, you seek access to:

1. Current social media policy of the department, which covers
departmental use and/or private use by employees in an individual
capacity.

2. Any current guidance material which is available for employees to make
informed decisions about their private social media use.

I write to advise that the ACMA has located a document which meets the
scope of your request.

The ACMA is amenable to releasing this document to you outside of the
formal process specified in the Freedom of Information Act. Doing so would
expedite its release to you.

If you wish to seek access outside of the Act, we request that you notify
us in writing that you wish to withdraw your formal application made under
the Act. We would then proceed to issue the document in question to you.

In practical terms, release outside of the Act does not require a formal
statement of reasons to be drafted etc., and we can finalise the matter
quickly.

I am happy to discuss this course of action further with you.

Please advise your thoughts on the process outlined above.

Yours sincerely,

Stephen Jones
