Thank you for your email dated 15 March 2023 regarding a request to access documents 
under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
 
Terms of FOI request 
 
You set out your FOI request in the following terms: 
 
I note comments made by former Prime Minister Paul Keating today regarding his 
attempts to reach out and discuss the AUKUS arrangement with the Prime Minister 
on the 21st of February.  
 
With that note, I request access to the following:  
(1) Any correspondence directed to the Prime Minister from Former Prime 
Minister Paul Keating from 1 January 2023 until now.  
(2) Any briefings or documents given to the Prime Minister relating to Keating's 
alleged correspondence  
(3) Talking Points provided to the Prime Minister referencing Paul Keating's 
comments regarding AUKUS dated from 1 January 2023 onwards

Material taken into account  
 
In reaching my decision I had regard to: 
•  the terms of your request 
•  the Act 
•  the Guidelines issued by the Information Commissioner, under section 93A of the Act

Decision  
 
I have decided to grant access to the identified documents except for personal information, 
including staff names. This information has been redacted on the grounds that the relevant 
personal information may reasonably be regarded as irrelevant to the subject of your request 
under section 22 of the Act.  
 
Review rights 
 
If you disagree with the decision you may apply for an Information Commissioner review 
within 60 days from the date of this letter. The Act does not provide for internal review of a 
decision by Minister.
