Dear Mr Terhost
ABN 59 698 720 886
FOI 23-14 - Decision on Access
I refer to the request made under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (
FOI Act) to
Airservices Australia (
Airservices) on 23 May 2023 (
the request). It seeks access to:
(a) Factors that influenced Airservices Australia's decision to discount the concerns of Primrose
Sands/Carlton River/Forcett residents
(b) The internal justification for moving a flight path that passed over less densely populated
regions at a higher altitude (greater than 4000') to one that passed over a more densely
populated region at a much lower altitude (around 2000`) knowing (i) the Runway 30 NRP-AR
flightpath would concentrate the number of jet aircraft flying over Primrose Sands/Carlton
River/Forcett, and (i ) that aircraft movements at Hobart Airport were projected to increase
significantly.
I am authorised under section 23 of the FOI Act and the Airservices Instrument of Delegation and
Authorisation to make decisions on primary requests under the FOI Act.
Decision
I have identified four documents subject to this request that broadly set out the reasons and
background as to why the flight plan was changed and also grant insight as to the alternate flight
paths considered. I have decided to grant access to the 4 documents in full.
These documents are set out in the schedule of documents at
Attachment A (
the Schedule).
