access to documents under the

Scope of Request
I have taken your request to be as follows:
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I request access to copies of the following
documents:
I understand from policy documents on your website that each college is meant to have a
‘College Education Committee’ (however named).
May I please request a copy of the minutes from the ANU College of Law’s CEC, for all
meetings after 1 July 2022.
In the alternative, if minutes are not kept, the next most equivalent information/document
with information about what was discussed and decided at those meetings

I am an officer authorised under section 23 of the Act to make decisions in respect of
requests to access documents or to amend or annotate records.

In reaching my decision I referred to the following:

• Documents relevant to the request
• Advice from University staff with responsibility for matters relating to the
documents to which you sought access
• The Act
• Guidelines published by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
(OAIC) under section 93A of the Act (the FOI Guidelines)

Decision
I have identified 5 documents deemed to be within the scope of your request. I have
decided to grant partial release of 2 documents with the remaining 3 documents to be
fully released.
A Document Schedule listing documents and exemptions is included alongside this
decision notice.
My findings of fact and reasons for deciding that the exemptions described apply to
the documents in question are set out below.

Section 22 of the Act – Irrelevant to request, impractical to provide edited version
of document
I have determined that documents 2 & 4 contain material which is outside the scope of
your request, and these parts of the documents have been redacted in accordance with

section 22 of the Act. No information, which relates to you or your request, was
identified in the redacted parts of the documents. Accordingly, the information was
deemed irrelevant and therefore excluded from disclosure.
