As luck would have it I was rostered to fly to Hobart on the first day the new SIDs, STARs and RNP
AR approaches became effective. As luck would also have it the weather was decidedly poor with
rain and strong westerly winds gusting up to 40 knots requiring the use of RWY 30. The
combination of the IPLET arrival and the RNP AR onto runway 30 worked very well. What was
even more serendipitous was that s47F
also just happened to be onboard travelling to
Hobart for a holiday.
Analysis of the new arrival and RNP AR approach combinations shows a reduction in track miles
s47G(1)(a)
I know these new SIDs, STARs and approaches have had a difficult birth, so can you please pass
on my thanks to your team.
