I, Kathryn Dan, am an officer authorised under section 23(1) of the FOI Act to make
decisions in relation to FOI requests.
On 1 December 2023, I contacted you to advise you that a practical refusal reason
existed and that on that basis I intended to refuse your request. The practical refusal
reason was that the scope of the request was such that the work involved in processing
the request would substantially and unreasonably divert the resources of this agency
from its other operations.
You were advised of the request consultation process during which you were able to
revise your request to narrow or reduce the scope of the request in order to remove the
practical refusal reason. No correspondence has been received from you since the
Practical Refusal Notice was issued on 1 December 2023.
In accordance with section 24AB(6) of the Act, before the end of the consultation
period you were required to do one of the following, in writing:
• make a revised request
• tell us that you did not wish to revise the request; or
• withdraw the request.
As you have not revised your request to remove the practical refusal reason and have
not otherwise advised the University in accordance with section 24AB(6), your request
is now taken to have been withdrawn.

Your review rights

Information Commissioner review of the decision. We encourage you to seek internal
review as a first step as it may provide a more rapid resolution of your concerns.

Section 54A of the Act, gives you the right to apply for an internal review of my
decision.
It must be made in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter, no particular form is
required but it is desirable to set out in the application the grounds on which you
consider the decision should be reviewed.

Under section 54L of the FOI Act, you may apply to the Australian Information
