Dear Mr. Squiggle
Waiver of charges for freedom of information request
I refer to your email of 12 April 2025 in which you request a waiver of charges
associated with your FOI request.
Decision
After considering the information available to me, as an authorised officer of the
ACCC for the purposes of s.23 of the FOI Act, I have decided to waive the charges in
respect of your request for access to documents.
This decision is made under s.29(4) of the FOI Act on the basis of public interest. In
making my decision I have taken into account your submission dated 12 April 2025
and have considered the general public interest in and debate surrounding the
material that falls into the scope of your request.
You should not regard my decision to waive these charges on the grounds of public
interest as being indicative of any further ACCC decision as to whether access to
these documents will be granted.
Timeframes
In accordance with the FOI Act, the 30 day limit for processing your request will re-
commence today, 12 May 2025. At this stage you can expect the ACCC’s decision
regarding access to the documents by
26 May 2025.
Notifying third parties of your identity
Please advise whether you are agreeable to the ACCC notifying third parties of your
identity, as that question is frequently asked of the ACCC when consulting. If you do
not agree or do not respond the ACCC will not disclose your identity to third parties.
Please do not hesitate to contact the FOI Team on (02) 6243 1244 or via email to
xxx@xxxx.xxx.xx if you have any questions in relation to this matter.
Yours sincerely
