Freedom of Information Request Decision 
The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) refers to the Freedom of 
Information request (FOI request) received from you on 26 June 2025 seeking access to:  
 
“I request under the FOI Act, the Privacy Impact Analysis for FINTEL Al iance 
Col aborative Analytics Hub’s first project which is described on this page on your 
website: https://www.austrac.gov.au/harnessing-data-clearer-picture-money-
laundering 
 
If no PIA was undertaken I request the records relating to whether a PIA was required 
or not.” 
 
AUSTRAC conducted searches based upon the information supplied within your FOI request 
for documents meeting the scope of your request. AUSTRAC did not identify documents in 
scope of the first part of your request, relating to the privacy impact assessment. However 
AUSTRAC identified one document in scope of the second part of your request, relating to 
the privacy threshold assessment.   
 
I have not identified any relevant exemptions that apply to the document.  However, the 
document contains some information that could reasonably be considered to be irrelevant 
to the scope of your request.  Therefore, I have decided to release the document to you in 
part, with the irrelevant information redacted under s 22 of the FOI Act.
