FOI 08/25/26 - Decision on Access
I refer to your email of 16 July 2025 to Airservices Australia requesting access to documents under
the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act).
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a decision on your request for access under the
FOI Act.
Scope of request
You set out your request in the following terms:
16JULY2025 Hobart Airport PIR reports ..stating that...The assessment has also completed a
Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) search of the proposed change using
the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
Protected Matters Search Tool.
Could I please obtain a copy of ALL MNES reports used in the collation of the recent Hobart
Airport PIR assessment reports released 16JULY25.
Authorised decision- maker
I am authorised under section 23 of the FOI Act and the Airservices Instrument of Delegation and
Authorisation to make decisions on primary requests under the FOI Act.

I have identified 17 documents as falling within the scope of the request.

I have decided to release 17 documents in full. Eight documents have been provided in a
document package and nine documents are publicly available. A link to the publicly available
documents has been provided in the schedule of documents at Attachment A.

a. the terms of the request;
b. the content of the identified documents in issue;
c. relevant provisions of the FOI Act; and

INFORMATION ON REVIEW RIGHTS
The
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (
the FOI Act) gives you the right to apply for a review of this
decision via:
(a)
an internal review; or
(b)
the Australian Information Commissioner (
Information Commissioner).
Internal review
If you apply for internal review, it wil be carried out by a different decision-maker who wil make a
fresh decision on your application. An application for review must be:
(a)
made in writing;
(b)
made within 30 days of receiving this letter; and
(c)
sent to xxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.
No particular form is required, but it is desirable to set out in the application the grounds upon which
you consider the decision should be reviewed.
If the internal review results in you not being provided access to all of the documents to which you
have requested access, you have the right to seek a review of that decision by the Information
Commissioner.
Information Commissioner review
You can opt to instead seek external review by the Information Commissioner. To seek review you
must apply to the Information Commissioner within 60 days of the receipt of this decision letter.
