SUBJECT FOI 202500198– Decision Notice
Dear Isabella Fairfax Chisolm,
On 17 August 2025, the Australian National University received your request seeking access to
documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act)
.
On 5 December 2025, the University contacted you and advised the documents identified as
relevant to your request had also been captured in response to FOI 202500179. A decision
regarding 202500179 had been finalised and the documents published on the ANU FOI disclosure
Log. As the relevant documents deemed relevant to you request had already been published, the
University sought your agreement to withdraw your request on the basis that the documents were
now publicly available.
On 13 December 2025, the University received your response, where you advised that the scope of
the 202500179 was narrower than your 202500198 and you wished the University to continue to
process your request.
1. Scope of Request
I have taken your request to be as follows:
‘I am making a request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth).

b) declarations made as part of the annual disclosures required of all Council members; and
c) any other declarations made to the University Council in any form.
Please include any duplicate declarations of the same interest, where applicable’
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a decision on your request for access under the
Act.
2.
Authority to Make Decision
I am an officer authorised under section 23 of the Act to make decisions in respect of requests to
access documents or to amend or annotate records.
3. Relevant Material
In reaching my decision I referred to the following:
• The terms of your request

• Advice from University staff with responsibility for matters relating to the documents
to which you sought access

• Guidelines published by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
under section 93A of the Act (the FOI Guidelines)
4. Decision
As previously advised, the documents identified as relevant to the scope of your request, are
identical to the documents deemed within the scope of FOI 202500179, now published on the
University FOI disclosure Log.
Further, although the scope for 202500179 is narrower than the scope of your 202500198, the
documents captured for both requests are the same documents.
