Dear FOI Applicant
Re: Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (“FOI Act”) – Notice of refusal pursuant to section 24A(1)
We refer to your FOI request dated 10 September 2025 for access to:
“…
documents that provide statistics on the number of tourist visitor arrivals from Israel and Palestine
from October 7, 2023, to the present date.…”,
herein referred to as “your Request”.
Decision in relation to your Request
Pursuant to section 24A(1) of the FOI Act, your Request has been refused on the bases that:
a) we have made all reasonable enquiries with Tourism Research Australia (
TRA), which is a branch of
the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (
Austrade);
b) TRA has advised that visitor numbers from Israel and Palestine are not captured and reported in
international visitor datasets prepared by TRA; and
c) we are satisfied on the basis of (a) and (b) above that the documents the subject of your Request
are not in TRA’s possession.
Section 15(4) – Agency assistance
As previously advised, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (
ABS) publishes Overseas Arrivals and Departures
datasets, which are publicly available on the ABS website:
