Dear Joyce,
On 11 October 2025 the Australian National University received your request seeking
access to documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act)
.
Scope of the Request
Your request stated you were requesting:
“… any and all documents held by the Australian National University that
relate to:
- hair and make up costs and bookings for interim Vice chancellor Rebekah
Brown.
- This includes invoices or ANU payments; emails, texts or other
communications to hair or make-up artists from Rebekah Brown or her
office; diary appointments held in ANU calendars for the Provost or IVC,
and emails or approvals for use of ANU funding for this purpose…”
You specified that the date range for the documents being requested was 20 August
2025 to present (11 October 2025, the date of your request).

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a decision on your request for access
under the Act.

Authority to Make Decision
I am an officer authorised under section 23 of the Act to make decisions in respect of
requests to access documents or to amend or annotate records.

Decision
The relevant area of the University was contacted and a search conducted for
documents relating to the scope of your request, but no relevant paper based or
electronic documents could be located.
I am required to give you a decision on your request. Given that no documents relating
to your request were found to exist, I have decided, as an officer authorised under
section 23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to FOI requests, to refuse your
Freedom of Information request under section 24A(1).

decision.
It must be made in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter, no particular form is
required but it is desirable to set out in the application the grounds on which you
consider the decision should be reviewed.
