Hi
Yes the June progress report should be fine and you can send the names separately.
Can I get back to you on the 14 June submission date? I need to check with our Council secretariat,
but we could potentially commission expert and methodological review on the public consultation
draft which would then mean the 14 June submission date would work.
Just confirming again you are likely to release the public consultation draft at the beginning of
March (in 2 weeks!)?
Thanks
Steph

Hi Stephanie and Sharon,
Thank you for your response. Just to clarify, we submitted a progress report in June in
anticipation of public consultation last year but due to various uncontrollable delays public
consultation didn't eventuate. Apart from the reviewer names, we don't have anything to add
so will the June progress report be sufficient and we will send you the reviewer names
separately as soon as we can?
1

Might there be any possibility that we could submit on 14 June?
Thank you and best wishes,
Monash University Teaching Associate, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing &
Health Sciences

Yes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx.xx is the correct address to send
correspondence to – addressed to Sharon Hoffman (copied).
For expert reviewers – could you please send us around six names and contact
details? We also contact a few additional experts identified through our contacts.
Ideally these names are sent to us along with the progress report ‐ so before public
consultation opens.
To meet the July meeting could you please submit the guidelines to us by 31 May
2022. If there are any problems with this please let us know.
Thanks
Steph

Dear Stephanie,
I hope you are having a great start to the year!
We are preparing for public consultation early March for 1 month. We will
notify you two weeks before, if not sooner, of the publication start date; and
send you the documents associated with the public consultation process a
week before. Do let me know if we should send these to an email other than
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx.xx (Sally Wright).
We have followed the NHMRC procedures and requirements very carefully
through the entire development process. We would like to clarify how many
independent expert reviewers' contact details would you like us to send you?
And would you like these details when we submit the guideline to you or
sooner?
Finally, is it possible to have a deadline date for when we should submit to
you in order to be considered for the July 2022 council meeting?
Thank you and best wishes,
Monash University Teaching Associate, Faculty of Medicine,
Nursing & Health Sciences

Hi Mark
I write earlier in the year advising of the Council dates for the rest of
the triennium, but it sounds like it didn’t get to you.
The dates are:
26/7 July 2022 23/24 November 2022
29/30 March 2023
26/27 July 2023
29/30 November 2023
27/28 March 2024
26/27 June 2024
(I have included later dates in case you plan to update the
guideline).
The procedures for public consultation and submission and
submission (stages 3 and 4) are laid out in the NHMRC procedures
and requirements which I urge you and your team to review before
you plan public consultation. Please contact Sharon Hoffman
(copied) who can set up a time with the NHMRC team to run
through what happens next. The timelines for the next few months
will be very tight.

You should also put together a list of Australian and international
experts unconnected with the guideline development process that
NHMRC can approach for expert review.
Regards
Geraint

Hello Geraint, we are trying to work out timeline. Do you have
a meeting date yet for June, even early, mid or late would help.
Best
Mark

Hi Mark
Unfortunately not yet.
Our new Council has just been appointed and we
are expecting dates to be announced any day now.
We have your guideline booked in for a meeting
expected around March 2022, however because of
COVID related delays the agenda is very congested.
If there is the possibility that you would submit for a
mid‐year meeting instead (expected in June) it
would be helpful to know this asap.
As soon as we get confirmation of Council dates and
your preferred date for submission Sharon (copied)
will contact you to go through the next stepsin
detail.
Thanks
Geraint
