Re: Reference to the ADHD Guideline [SEC=OFFICIAL]
Brilliant thanks

Many thanks Mark.
NHMRC approves guidelines that meet NHMRC’s Standards (effectively approving the
way the recommendations were developed) rather than endorsing them. Again I’m sorry
for the semantics.
‘…developing guidelines with a view to submitting them to NHMRC for approval’ would be
fine in your bio.
If you would like to state what section of NHMRC’s Act they are approved under it is
section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992
Thanks for your understanding and apologies for the inconvenience.
Kind regards,

Sure apologies for that.
Happy to take your advice on best wording. Usually i say something like developing guidelines with a
view to endorsement by NHMRC
That one might have slipped through
best

Dear Mark
During my review of your progress report I came across a reference to your guidelines
that sounds like you are developing the guidelines for NHMRC rather than seeking
1

NHMRC’s approval for them. This in itself is not a bad thing but a more accurate
description of approval helps us manage expectations and inquiries about the guidelines
program.
Could you please change your bio information to indicate your intention to submit the
guideline to NHMRC for its approval (under section 14A of the National Health and
Medical Research Council Act 1992.)

If you would like some help with a form of words please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
