DTA challenge to increase digital capability

Are you an SME that can help us improve government capability to deliver world-leading
digital services?
We are proud to take part in the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science’s Business
Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII).
Labelled the “million-dollar challenge”, BRII encourages small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
to submit their innovative solutions to solve government challenges.
Our challenge for SMEs is to put forward effective and innovative ways for uplifting
government capability to help deliver world-leading digital services.
There is a pressing need to make government fit for the digital age, and to do more to
improve agencies’ digital maturity.
We’re looking for a creative and innovative digital solution for agencies to easily find and use
resources about how to get started and grow their knowledge on various aspects of digital
transformation.
We need a solution that addresses the different needs of government agencies, so that APS
staff and agencies can understand and take advantage of digital platforms and related
capabilities. The solution should also provide the ability for coordination and transparency at a
whole of government level.
There are two phases to the grant process. The first phase offers up to $100,000 to SMEs for a
feasibility study to put forward their solutions to our uplifting government capability challenge.
Successful feasibility study SMEs will be invited to develop their concept with a proof of
concept grant of up to $1 million in the second phase of the challenge.
Modern, agile agencies will be able to provide better services for people and businesses,
driving the social change required to make Australia a world-leading digital government.
We will be showcasing our challenge at the BRII nation-wide roadshow in March.
