Since November, APS Digital Profession training courses have been attended more than 2000
times by staff upgrading their digital skills.

These in-demand courses are aimed at upgrading the digital skills of general users and IT
administrators across the Australian Public Service.
APS employees are encouraged to quickly secure their place for the last 3 scheduled Microsoft
courses for June 2021. The introductory courses for Power Automate, Microsoft OneNote and
Power BI, are among the most popular courses delivered under the Digital Transformation
Agency program.
These courses are delivered virtually and bridge gaps in digital proficiency through instructor-
led training. In as little as an hour, staff can upgrade or refresh their software program skills.
“I really appreciated the little tips around everyday use that I hadn't seen before, rather than
one feature,” one APS employee said after recently completing a general user course.

The courses are delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams:
Power Automate: Introduction and Overview
Power Automate helps users automate everyday tasks. It works across some of the most
popular apps and services with automated tasks called Flows. In this 1-hour workshop you will
receive an overview of the product, a live demonstration and learn how to make your first Flow.
Microsoft OneNote: Introduction and Overview
Make the best use of OneNote, from using templates and ‘drawing your thoughts’ to inserting
videos and content from the web.
Power BI: Introduction and Overview
Power BI lets you easily connect to your data sources, visualise what’s important and share with
other users in your organisation. In this course you’ll learn how to build your own dashboard
using Power BI.

User feedback
Some fantastic feedback from APS employees attending previous general user courses
includes:
‘Great session. Was very helpful in introducing me to Power BI.’
‘The presenter was amazing. Let's face it - Power BI is a dry topic, but I was absolutely
fascinated by his energy and clear tone, and the hour vanished so quickly.’
‘The presenter gave a good overview of OneNote. I particularly liked the write to text
feature.’

The cost
Under the APS Digital Profession, the courses are sponsored by DTA and Microsoft.
