The additional efficiency dividend – estimated staffing reductions

In 2013-14, around 55% of departmental appropriations were spent on wages, salaries and 
superannuation.   Assuming agencies seek savings in the same proportion, a staff reduction of around 
4,800 would be needed to meet these savings.
