The standard timeframe for us to process an FOI request is 30 days from the date we receive 
an application. However, the ATO will close at 12.00 pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and 
will re-open on Friday 2 January 2026.   
We therefore seek your agreement to a 30-day extension of the processing period under 
section 15AA of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 to cover this shutdown period and other 
leave taken by staff around this time. Of course, we will continue to process your request and 
provide our decision as soon as we can.  
Could you please advise by return email by 19 December 2025 if you consent to a 30-day 
extension of time.  
We will notify you if there are charges and what those charges will be. We will obtain your 
consent to any additional charges before processing the request.
