Your application for IC review of an FOI decision 
Dear Anonymous,  
I refer to your application for IC review of a decision made by the Australian Radiation 
Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) on 4 July 2018 under the Freedom of 
Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act). 
The Information Commissioner has decided to commence review of ARPANSA’s decision of 4 
July 2018. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) is currently 
considering your IC review application and is conducting inquiries with ARPANSA. 
At this stage, your matter is awaiting allocation to a review officer. Once allocated, the 
review officer will review any documentation or submissions provided by ARPANSA in 
support of its decision. The review officer will then contact you to advise you of their view on 
the next appropriate steps in the matter. 
The current allocation timeframe to a review officer can take up to four months from the 
date of commencement of review, depending on the number and complexity of other IC 
review matters received prior to your application for IC review. The OAIC will endeavour to 
have your matter allocated as soon as practicable. 
Please note, during an IC review the OAIC will generally share the submissions you provide 
with the respondent.
