Transformation
Agenda Item 3.1
Transformation Update
Ms Pope updated members on the Veteran Centric Reform (VCR) Program, discussing key
deliverables currently in progress and continued engagement with internal and external
stakeholders as part of the Program showcases.
Members noted the confluence of initiatives being implemented across the department in May and
June and acknowledged the resulting workload and demands on staff across the department.
Members also noted the emerging skills pressures particularly project management. Members
agreed there is a need for consistent messaging to staff recognising the challenges.
As part of the Student and Income Support work stream, the IT solution for Education Scheme
claims, is expected to be implemented on 31 May 2018. Ms Pope highlighted that this substantial
piece of work was being closely monitored by the Transformation Program Board.

Agenda Item 3.2
Digital Transformation and Agile Capability
Ms Pope advised that the Digital Transformation Agency Digital Transformation training is being
piloted with DVA staff, with most sessions fully booked. DVA is also seeking one or more
providers of Agile training to build organisational capability, with a team established to evaluate
providers’ responses. Ms Pope stated that after this evaluation was complete the People
Committee will be asked to consider inclusion of the training, as part of DVA’s National Training
Program noting that the type of skills in the training are a core skillset supported by the Australian
Public Service Commission.

Graduate Update
Ms s 47E(d) advised members that the 2018 Graduates are currently undertaking their first
placement, finishing on 18 May 2018. Applications are now open for the 2019 graduate intake.
