For the period of 13 August 2012 to 14 July 2019, 4183 asylum seekers, defined as ‘Illegal 
Maritime Arrivals’ who arrived in Australia were transferred offshore for regional 
processing. 
The number of asylum seekers who have been granted an asylum visa from an offshore 
processing centre to allow them to enter mainland Australia is zero.  
Note: DRPC Reporting cannot report on people who were transferred to an Offshore Processing Centre prior to 
13 August 2012 due to this information not being recorded in departmental operational or systems data. 
Note: This data does not include those born in offshore detention centres. 
Note: Information is based on operational data as at COB 14 July 2019.
