1. I refer to your application for access to documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (
FOI Act)
dated, and received in this office by email, on 3 March 2014. I note that your request was not
communicated via the electronic address recently specified by IP Australia, eServices.
2. You have sought access to documents that “contain references to the decision by IP Australia to refuse
to accept Freedom of Information requests via email”. You have specifically excluded, from the scope of
your request, any documents that have been sent to members of the public in relation to their requests.
3. I am an officer of IP Australia authorised under section 23 of the FOI Act to make decisions on access.
Pursuant to section 15 of the FOI Act, a decision must be made in relation to your request on or before
the expiration of 30 calendar days after the day on which the application was received. The timeframe
may however be extended by an additional 30 days if formal consultation is required. You will be
advised if this is the case, following consideration of the documents relevant to your request.
