Your request 
I advise that your request, in its current form, does not constitute a valid request. 
The request fails to provide such information concerning the specific document sought, 
that would reasonably enable the agency to identify it.   
Section 15(2)(b) of the FOI Act states that the request must "provide such information 
concerning the document as is reasonably necessary to enable a responsible officer 
of an agency, … to identify [the document]".  
As section 15(2)(b) has not been met ASIC may, in accordance with section 24AA(1)(b) 
of the FOI Act, refuse to process your application. 
Lists of information  
The right of access under the FOI Act applies to documents that exist at the time the 
FOI  request  was  made.  It  general y  does  not  require  an  agency  to  create  a  new 
document in response to a request for access. 
Australian Business Numbers 
The Australian Business Register (ABR) is responsible for the registration of a Australian 
Business Number (ABN). You may search free data about an ABN using the ABN Lookup 
tool on their website.  
Clarification sought 
Your request is framed in such a way that it does not identify what specific documents 
you seek. For me to be able to process this request, you wil  need to provide me with 
sufficient details relating to the documents sought. 
Your clarification is returnable to me 
Should  you  wish  to  clarify  your  request,  you  are  required  to  contact  me  (in  writing) 
within 14 days after the date that you receive this letter Thursday 10 October 2019, (the 
consultation period). 
Pursuant to section 24AB(6) of the FOI Act, before the end of the consultation period

If  I  have  not  heard  from  you  by  10  October  2019  I  wil   proceed  to  process  your 
application in its current form and in accordance with sections 24AB(6) and s24AB(7) 
of the Act, it wil  be taken to be withdrawn. 
Exemptions (documents excluded from FOI) 
Documents (including extracts) publicly available for a fee 
Where a document is publicly available for a fee, it is excluded from the operation of 
the FOI Act pursuant to section 12(1)(b), which states that " a person is not entitled to 
obtain access under this Part to ... a document that is open to public access, as part 
of  a  public  register  or  otherwise,  ...  where  that  access  is  subject    to  a  fee  or  other 
charge". 
Timing of decision 
Pursuant to section 15(5)(b) of the FOI Act, an application must be processed within 
30 days. However, please note that in accordance with section 24AB(8) of the FOI Act, 
the time for processing your request is suspended from the day that you receive this 
letter and resumes on the day after ASIC receives from you, a request in writing which 
contains sufficient information to identify the documents sought.
