Application for Documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982
Dear Mr Fairless,
I refer to your Freedom of Information request received by Australia Post on 10 September 2020 in which
you seek access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (
"FOI Act").
Your request
I note recent media reports indicating that Australia Post “threatened to call police unless the City
of Melbourne delivered more than 100 of Pauline Hanson's One Nation-branded stubby holders to
every apartment in a locked-down suburban public housing tower in July.
I would like to request all written and electronic documents that relate to the delivery of these items,
including but not limited to data stored in corporate systems such as email/CRM/corporate chat platforms,
paper records, and data stored on mobile phones (including but not limited to SMS, WhatsApp and other
chat applications).
The search period is from July 2020 to present.
Consultation
Documents matching the description of your request have been located. Under the provisions of the FOI
Act (s 27), Australia Post is required to consult with third parties to determine their views on disclosure.
Australia Post cannot provide you access to the documents until the statutory time al owed for review
and appeal has run out, the decision to give access still stands, or is confirmed.
Accordingly, I am formally advising you that Australia Post is consulting with relevant parties.
Please note that it is Australia Post’s intention to use all reasonable endeavours to expedite the
consultation process so as not to unduly delay provision of the relevant documents.
