20 October 2020
Mr John Smith

Dear Mr Smith,
Notice of Decision for Freedom of Information Request no. 2020/0101
The purpose of this letter is to give you a decision about access to documents that you
have requested under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (
FOI Act).
Summary
I am an of icer authorised under s 23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to
FOI requests.
You lodged an FOI request on 18 September 2020 for access to:
The actual dollar amounts paid by the AAT to Launch in association with
CN3552941, CN3552945, and CN3650297.
I have liaised with the AAT’s procurement and finance teams to locate any documents
relevant to your request. As the AAT does not hold a discrete document containing the
information requested, I have processed your request under section 17 of the FOI Act.
Decision
I have decided to grant full access to the document with irrelevant information redacted
pursuant to section 22 of the FOI Act.
In making my decision, I have taken the following into account:
• the content of the documents that fall within the scope of your request;
• the FOI Act, specifically sections 17 and 22; and
• the guidelines issued by the Australian Information Commissioner under s 93A of
the FOI Act (
FOI Guidelines).

Reasons for my decision
Section 22 of the FOI Act – Information irrelevant to the request
Section 22 of the FOI Act provides that an agency may remove any information which
can be reasonably regarded as irrelevant to the request for access.
In your request you have asked for access to ‘
the actual dollar amounts paid by the AAT
to Launch in association with CN3552941, CN3552945, and CN3650297’. You have
specifically asked for dollar amounts paid to Launch Recruitment. Although the
document in question does reference CN3552945, no amounts were paid to Launch
Recruitment under that contract notice. I have therefore decided that the information is
irrelevant to your request and the information has been removed under section 22 of the
FOI Act.
