Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services
Australian Securities and Investments Commission
Public hearing: Wednesday, 18 November 2020
Answers to Questions on Notice

Question No:
  003
Reference:
Hansard page 44
Committee Member:    Senator Bragg

Questions:
Senator BRAGG: How many people at ASIC have credit cards?
Mr Day: I think that number is around about 1,400, but I'l  have to take that on notice.
Senator BRAGG: Who signs off on the credit card usage of the commissioners?
Mr Day: The commissioner's sign-off has been done previously by the chair, James Shipton, and
his own credit card has been signed off by the chief financial officer. The commissioner had
given consideration to amending that so that I would be signing off on the acquittals of credit
cards and approvals of credit cards for the commission, but we haven't finalised that at the
moment. So, as it stands at the moment, the sign-off is still the acting chair for the other
commissioners and for the executive directors, but, as I said, for the acting chair it would be the
chief financial officer.

Answers:
ASIC have 1168 credit card holders.

ASIC’s credit card acquittal process has been amended, by Commission decision, to enable the
Chief Operating Officer to be accountable for review and sign off on each Commissioner’s credit
card expenditure.
