FEBRUARY
ARPANSA conducted a safety, security and emergency preparedness and
response review of the arrangements of the proposed site and found that the
site was not appropriate – without substantial additional upgrades – to
conduct characterisation, separation and pre-conditioning activities with the
Woomera waste drums.
Discussion
A number of base-line soil samples were collected at strategically significant
long-range locations at the Woomera test site. Access to these locations was
provided by the Defence site caretaker.
