Morning s 47F
I hope you had a nice Christmas break and that you got some time
away with family and friends.
I was hoping I might be able to get some assistance in early Jan with the approval of the latest
iteration of the COVIDSafe app if any issues are encountered.
As part of the Privacy Impact Assessment that was undertaken prior to the release of the Herald
Protocol in COVIDSafe in mid December, we had an agreed set of wording for the pop-up
notifications noting the requirements for Bluetooth, location services and apps running in the
background under IOS 14.2.
During deployment to the app store, the Apple review team requested that the wording be
changed to align with the Apple app guidelines. The DTA changed the text to allow it to be
approved and in the process have changed the intent of the statements.

Below is the current wording in the app which implies that we are using the location services for
more than we are.
We have already received feedback that this is misleading so are keen to rectify this and provide
certainty to the community. Attached is the proposed updated words. We feel this better
describes the behaviour of the app while acknowledging the use of the location and background
services.
There may be no issue however I just wanted to give you a heads up in case this becomes an
issue and we require assistance to get the changes approved.
Thanks for your ongoing support.
