Mortality exits 
The following table lists total mortality exits, expressed as a percentage of active 
participants, since 1 January 2018. 
It should be noted that whilst the total count of participant deaths has increased over time, 
the rate of participant mortality has remained relatively constant as a proportion of total 
active (with a plan) participants.

* April 2020 is higher than other months because the NDIA received additional information on
participants who had died earlier – the higher rate of mortality in April 2020 was therefore not due to a
lot more participants dying that month.
