TheInformationAccessOfficerwithcarriageoftherequestthencommencedsearchingandcollectingdocumentsfortherequeston
16February2022.Owingtothewidescopeoftheapplicant'srequest,6differentbusinessareasattheDepartmentwereidentified
andapproachedasholdingdocumentswithinthescopeofthisrequest.Anumberofdocumentswithinscopeoftherequesthave
beencollected.However,duetothecomplexityandwidescopeoftherequestitisbelievedthatthereareasignificantnumberof
documentswithinthescopeofthisrequestthathavenotbeencollectedatthispoint.
On9March2022theInformationAccessOfficerprocessingthisrequestchanged,duetotheformerOfficerleavingthisposition.It
becameclearuponreviewingthematterthat,duetoadministrativeerror,notalldocumentsfrombusinessareashadbeenreturned,
notallreasonablesearcheshadbeenundertaken,andthatfurthertimewouldbenecessarytoconductallreasonablesearches.Due
tothecomplexandwidescopeofthisrequest,itisexpectedthatconductingthesesearchesandreviewingallapplicabledocuments
willtakeseveralweeks.
Duetothesensitivenatureofthedocumentswithinscopeoftherequest,relatingtoselfharmandsuicide,itisanticipatedthatitwill
benecessarytoconsultwithallrelevantbusinessareastoensurethatallapplicableexemptionprovisionsareconsidered,andthat
undertakingtheseconsultationsmaytakesometimetocomplete.
Itisexpectedthatanadditional30daysofprocessingwillallowtheDepartmenttoproperlyprocessthisFOIrequest,toensurethat
