Dear Nerida,
 
I didn’t want to disturb your weekend with a phone call.
 
I wanted to let you know I’ve received confirmation from Ita about being
appointed Chair of the ABC’s Advisory Council. As you know, this
Council has no statutory authority and advises the Board ‘on matters relating to
the Corporation’s broadcasting programs’.
 
I recognise this is not ideal with my role at the ACMA. After speaking with you,
I’m sure we can manage any perceived conflict. But please let me know if
you have any concerns whatsoever. I value our relationship and your support
and I don’t in any way want to compromise this.
 
I understand this appointment will be announced on Monday.
