FOI Request: FA 22/04/00224 
1a. How many people have their citizenship application approved and are waiting for the ceremony 
in Waverly council?  
1b. How many ceremonies are conducted in a week and for how many people? 
Caveats: 
• This information is provided for the specific purpose of this request. Any other use of the
information provided wil  require consideration and clearance by Data Division, and a separate
request should be made to data clearance.
• It is the responsibility of the area providing Department of Home Affairs information to external
stakeholders to ensure that the disclosure is in accordance with the ABF Act, Australian Privacy
Principles or other relevant legislation.
• Regarding Immigration data, the Department’s current policy is to mask numbers which are less
than five as <5, noting we are reviewing the confidentiality method for the future.
Response: 
1a. As at 8 April 2022, there were 728 people whose applications for Australian citizenship by 
conferral had been approved and who were waiting to attend an Australian citizenship ceremony 
conducted by Waverley City Council (NSW). Of these, 59 have been allocated to attend a 
ceremony. 
1b. We are unable to provide information on ceremony scheduling, or the number of people invited 
for each ceremony, as these are determined by local government councils.
