I refer to your email dated 29 November 2022 requesting an internal review of the
decision in respect to your information request, Reference No. 202223-019-Media
watch.
Background
Your information request seeks access to:
…all communications occurring this year between Kit Kowalaski, Kat Karena,
Rachel Wong and Gabrielle Clark (Supervising Producer – Media Watch) [
between 1 January and 18 October 2022]
A decision in relation to your information request was made by the ABC’s Head of
Rights Management & FOI Decision Maker, Ali Edwards, who has authority to make
decisions in respect of requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982
(Cth) (FOI Act).
In correspondence to you dated 14 November 2022, Ms Edwards stated that no
documents were found to exist in relation to your request and as such, under s24A of
the FOI Act, access is considered to be refused.
I am authorised by the Managing Director under s23 of the FOI Act to make decisions
on requests for internal review.
I have reviewed your request in accordance with s54C of the FOI Act.

In undertaking my review, I have reviewed relevant sections of the FOI Act and the FOI
Guidelines published by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (FOI
Guidelines).
Decision
Having reviewed your request and made my own enquiries of the Media Watch team I
am satisfied that all reasonable steps were taken to identify any documents falling
within your FOI request and that the documents you seek, do not exist. They do not
exist because there was no communication between the named persons and
Gabriella Clark during the nominated period.
I therefore affirm the Original Decision.
