Acknowledgement of Freedom of Information Access request
I refer to your correspondence received on 6 December 2022, seeking access to documents
held by the Office of the Minister for Home Affairs, under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act).
Scope of request
You have requested access to the following:
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), I am seeking access to
correspondence between the Office of the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and
Multicultural Affairs and the City of Darebin council and/or people making
representations on behalf of City of Darebin council in regards to the issue of the City of
Darebin council's right to hold citizenship ceremonies or lack thereof.
The documents I am seeking are from the period 22 May 2022 to the date this FOI is
actioned.
Your request was received on 6 December 2022 and has been allocated FOI request
reference MO22/12/00001. Please include your FOI request reference in all correspondence
with the Office of the Minister for Home Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs Freedom
of Information Section.
Timeframe for receiving your decision
The statutory timeframe for processing a request is 30 days from the date upon which your
application was received by the Office of the Minister for Home Affairs..

Publication of document
Where documents are released to you in response to your request, the Office of the Minister
for Home Affairs may be required to publish these documents within 10 working days in
Parliament House Canberra ACT 2600 Telephone: (02) 6277 7860 Facsimile: (02) 6273 4144

accordance with section 11C of the FOI Act. Publication will not be required where the
documents contain personal or business affairs information.
