Act of Grace Request – Decision 
Thank you for the request submitted on behalf of s22
 for an act of 
grace payment of s22
, received by the Department of Finance (Finance) on s22  
. The request relates to repayment of unclaimed money under section 69 of the 
Banking Act 1959 (the Act), which is not possible due to an unintended consequence of 
the legislation which requires repayments to be made through an approved deposit taking 
institution (ADI). In this case repayemt is not possible ast the ADI in question has been 
liquidated. 
Decision 
I am an authorised delegate for the purposes of section 65 of the Public Governance, 
Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).  I have decided, under subsection 
65(1) of the PGPA Act to authorise an act of grace payment of s22
 in this instance.
