Dear Me,
On 7 June 2023, the Australian National University received your request seeking access to
documents under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act)
.
Your request was as follows:
‘Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I request access to copies of the following
documents:
1) A current ANU organisational chart, equivalent to that in the Annual Report, with the
name of the person holding each position (at least for the executive (darker grey boxes in
2021 Annual Report)).
2) A current organisational chart for Access & Inclusion. Included in the scope of (2) is
the names of ‘management’ (the ANU equivalent of APS Senior Executive Service
positions).
NB: Excluded from the scope of (2) is ‘middle management’ and ‘junior staff’ (anything
equivalent to APS Executive Level 2 and below).’
Date range for the documents being requested: N/A
The relevant areas of the University were contacted and a search conducted for documents
relating to the scope of your request, but no relevant paper based or electronic documents
could be located.

Authority to make decisions
I am an officer authorised under section 23(1) of the FOI Act to make decisions in relation to
FOI requests. Given that no documents relating to your request were found to exist, I have
decided to refuse your Freedom of Information request under section 24A(1)(b)(ii) of the Act.
Your review rights
If you are dissatisfied with my decision, you may apply for internal review or Information
Commissioner review of the decision. We encourage you to seek internal review as a first step
as it may provide a more rapid resolution of your concerns.
Application for Internal Review of Decision
Section 54A of the Act, gives you the right to apply for an internal review of my decision.
It must be made in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter, no particular form is required but
it is desirable to set out in the application the grounds on which you consider the decision should
be reviewed.

Under section 54L of the FOI Act, you may apply to the Australian Information Commissioner to
